Theater Etiquette Tips

Not sure what to do when you visit the theater, whether it's the neighborhood movie theater or the ballet instead? I used to feel anxious and uncomfortable in these performing arts venues, but now I'm a confident theater goer that always knows what to do. Since theater etiquette is a topic rarely discussed today, I figured it'd be helpful to start a website educating others on what I've discovered through research and experience combined. Let me guide you through the world of cinema, live plays, and other theater performances so you know the differences between a musical and a silent art piece.

Sink Your Fangs Into These Awesome Vampire TV Series

Blog

If you're a fan of vampires and are looking for a cool TV series centered around the blood sucking monsters, then you're in luck. There are lots of well crafted TV shows to choose from. Vampire's have always been popular in film, dating back to the German silent film Nosfatatu. When long form television drama started to get popular, writers turned to vampires for interesting story lines. Below are three great TV series you can find on blu-ray.

True Blood

This is probably one of the more popular vampire themed television shows. It aired on HBO and stared Anna Paquin as a waitress in New Orleans. The show is set in a world where vampires have "come out of the coffin" and drink a blood substitute called "true blood." Paquin has special powers herself, which are slowly revealed over the course of the series. The show is sexy and playful, with lots of campy humor. There are lots of other supernatural creatures as well: shapeshifters, fairies, and even entities out of ancient Greece.

Forever Night

Forever Night was a detective show that was on the air back in the 1990s. It was one of the original television shows to feature a vampire as a protagonist. The lead character is a vampire who has decided to not kill humans, and instead drinks blood he procures from a blood bank. Nick, the main character, works as a detective and solves crimes using his special abilities. The show was set in modern day Toronto. The main story also has flashbacks to Nick's past, including his long running feud with the evil vampire LaCroix, who functions as Nick's main antagonist throughout the series. If you're a fan of detective shows and vampires, this is one you'll love.

Penny Dreadful

Penny Dreadful is a more recent example of a long form cable drama featuring vampires. The show ran on Showtime, and featured characters including Dracula, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, as well as witches and assorted vampires. It ran for three seasons. The show was made for Showtime, so it's rather adult in nature. The show featured high caliber actors, including Eve Green, Timothy Dalton, Josh Hartnet, and Rory Kinnear. The setting was Victorian era England, and the sets and costume design were all top notch. It was all wrapped up in a  spectacular fashion, so you don't have to worry about any unresolved plot lines. The three seasons are all focused on Eva Green's character (a powerful, mysterious women) who battles the dark forces at work in England, eventually culminating in a battle with Dracula.
